the sea calls to me

A few photos from our weekend wanderings. I would like to live in that house!

Sea Fever by John Masefield
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a gray mist on the sea's face, and a gray dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way, where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

Tell me about it! It calls to me as well!
CRIKEY LESLEY - WHERE IS THAT PLACE?!?! It looks spectacular, and what photos too!!!

I love that poem, it reminds me of being little and my Mum reading the first few lines to me!

More photos please!

Yes, very beautiful place that I've visited many times as a child, dreamt about... a few years ago I had a nightmare that my love drowned in the water, but didn't know where the place was until the weekend when we visited. Strange how the mind works! Didn't detract from how stunning it was though! It's Rhosneigr on Anglesey :-)

And that wind does feel like a whetted knife sometimes, doesn't it?

You and me both! I love the intense blueness of the sky. Great photos of what is an idyllic spot.

I voted for Robin in your bird poll. It was difficult to choose a favourite from your list. I would have loved to have given a vote to the Blackbird too. They have such character, and it's always such a pleasure to see them around my garden. x

Julie, whetted knife is spot on. Exactly how it felt when the sun went down. Ouch!

Louise, thanks for voting in my bird poll. It was interesting to see the results. I knew robin would win really. Who can resist a naughty robin? I will have to think up another poll soon.
